A tradition built on something stronger than steel: family.

Steel Structures, Inc., may provide world-class tank technologies and leading-edge fabrication capabilities, but rest assured: we’ve always been a family business at heart.

The company was founded in 1952 by Early Thomas Riley in Kaiser, Oregon, then continued in 1976 by Joe Riley in Fresno, California. Daniel Riley took the helm in 2006 and continues to lead SSI to this day, continuing the Riley family’s legacy of welding and steel fabrication.

While the company’s family heritage has remained unchanged, the company has changed significantly in other ways.

In 1980, SSI moved to our current headquarters in Madera, California. Shortly after moving into our new facilities, we added ASME Section VIII Division I capabilities with automated processes. SSI then acquired adjacent facilities, enabling us to expand our garnet-blasting and coatings operation, making SSI the leading diversified steel storage manufacturer on the West Coast.

Today, the SSI manufacturing plant occupies four buildings on 9 acres, and is capable of handling any major project requiring shop-fabricated steel storage tanks, vessels, bins or silos.

While we’re pleased to offer these remarkable capabilities, we’re even more proud of the standing SSI has earned within our industry and our customer base – a reputation for excellence based on our knowledgeable staff with over a century of combined tank and fabrication experience, as well as outstanding customer service.

As SSI extends our family history of industry-leading steel work, we look forward to continuing the rewarding relationships we’ve built with our long-term clients, as well as helping new clients meet their steel storage needs.
